Hey Legend! Thanks for stopping by, if you're looking for a particular blog you can click the categories below for easy access!
Ahhhhh! I’ve been waiting so long to blog this baby – One of my all time FAVOURITE weddings to date. So here it goes!!
Kyra got in touch with me back in May 2016, so it was the longest wait getting to April 2018! But man was it worth the wait (and more!) – We chatted back and forth during the 2 year gap, and with each email my comfort grew and we formed a lovely little friendship. Also in those 2 years, Kyra + Max just happened to be guests at a few other weddings I shot too, so it was great to see their faces on a semi-regular basis!! They were both so easy-going the whole way through and I knew immediately it would be so much fun hanging out with them on the day. Max being part of a local footy club, and Kyra having the tightest girl gang ever, I knew there were going to be some serious party vibes on the day!
I started off with the boys at a cute little AirBNB in Quarry Hill, where the boys were enjoying a beer (or not so much?) while still recovering from the night before.
To be fair, Max’s brother had travelled all the way from the UK – So it’d be rude not to make the most of their time together right?!
And despite the efforts the night before, all the boys scrubbed up damn fine!
Look at this guy!
What a good looking rooster!
Then off to the girls, who had also hired a stunning little property just around the corner from the boys. It was saturated with natural light (a photographers dream) and the dynamic with Kyra’s group of friends is unlike most friendships. They are incredibly close, and I knew they would be a dream to photograph on the day. Kyra’s best friend, Jaime (who just happens to be one of the best Makeup Artist’s getting around) was finishing off Kyra’s makeup when I got there, so I just glided around taking photos of all the little details that had been planned for their big day.
Once the hair and makeup touch up’s were done, we took a few snaps of the girls in their cute AF robes and then it was time for Kyra to put on her dress…
This dress! Ahhh!! It was so incredibly beautiful, and man… It just… fit Kyra so perfectly!
As she revealed it to her bestie Jaime, and Sister Mel… Well, I’ll let the photos do the talking!
Yes. Jaime cried.
(And… umm.. So did I).
The girls continued to help Kyra get ready as we waited for her transport to arrive.
I could stare at these photos all day.
I’m utterly in awe of Kyra’s beauty. Inside & out.
I mean… just look at her!
So… with the cars arriving, and the time drawing near, it was time to head to the ceremony to get these two hitched!
We arrived at Bendigo Pottery, and all the guests were basking in the unusually warm April sun which was perfectly positioned right where M + K chose to be married.
Kyra held back tears as she walked down the aisle.
And sorry to dob you in Max… But you did too. I saw them!
The ceremony was seriously beautiful. Tears all round. Hosted by one of my all time favourite celebrants (Michael Anderson), it was just…. perfect!
You can tell how deeply Max + Kyra care for each other, and we got to hear about their adventures together and how they got to this point.
It made me love them so much more (If that’s possible).
So the first kiss sealed, and the marriage certificate signed – I introduce you to… Mr + Mrs Grant!!
And with all the congratulations offered, and the hugs & kisses given… It was time for the bridal party to have some time to hang out together and have a laugh.
Big thanks to Jaime, my chief mist sprayer (see above photo) – You outdid yourself girlfriend!!
These are some of my favourite wedding photos I’ve EVER taken. Everything just came together, the stars aligned. We got the most beautiful golden hour sun, Kyra + Max were basically models and just gave me everything I needed and more (without being asked!) and everyone had a good time! Honestly, you can’t ask for much more and I will remember this day forever.
The sun just kept getting better and better, so we just stayed in position and made the most of it!
But with the sun gone now, it was time to start the party for real!
Guys!
I don’t even know where to start!
You are both wonderful humans. You took me in and made me feel like family for the day, and I really truly had THE best time with you! You radiate happiness and love and kindness, and that is why it is returned to you in such great friendships. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for you… Hopefully lots more travel and a few babies too!
Big Love, Leah
