Hey Legend! Thanks for stopping by, if you're looking for a particular blog you can click the categories below for easy access!
It’s the ULTIMATE compliment when a couple book you before they’ve even set a date. So when Kris messaged me just 2 weeks after she was engaged to check my availability, I was pretty chuffed!
Kris and I have mutual friends, so have known of each other for years and years. But it wasn’t until she was a Bridesmaid in one of her best friend’s weddings (that I shot) a couple of years ago that we got chatting. Another ultimate compliment, is someone booking me because they’ve seen another wedding I’ve shot and loved the photos. It’s a pretty cool feeling, I must admit.
So that’s how our romance began, ha!
We messaged each other back and forth, and as soon as Kris told me her plans for a pizza van at Belvoir Park Estate, I was in!
So.. let’s talk about the wedding a little bit more in depth shall we!
I started off with the boys, as per usual. It was a really early start though, so I promised Marc I wouldn’t make him get in his suit for these snaps. Instead we decided on documenting what he wanted to be doing, which was hanging out with his mates at the pool of the hotel. It was a smashing day, so what better way to start your wedding day than a beer in the water?
I didn’t hang out with the boys for too long, I took a few snaps and then jetted off to visit the girls.
I pulled up to the beautiful View Street Apartments, having admired them for a long time as I drive past them every day, and pretty excited to see what was inside!
Kris answered the door in her robe, with her veil already in place – Looking ridiculously flawless.
She walked me upstairs and I started to take some photos of her rings, shoes etc. when the girls mentioned she wasn’t feeling well. I was thinking she had a bit of a cold or something. She looked amazing so it couldn’t have been too bad. But then as we kept talking, I realised how sick the poor thing was. She had gastro. On her wedding day. WORST. LUCK. EVERRRRR.
I couldn’t believe she was still smiling. In between shots, Kris would sit on the floor, or lie on the bed.
But she was pushing through, no matter what.
And she looked bloody incredible doing it!
So as Kris sipped on her hydrolyte, and nibbled on a cracker we all watched her anxiously to see if she was OK. Kris, you are such a trooper my friend – I am in awe of your composure!
So once all the girls were dressed (and looking mighty fine, may I add) – It was time to head off to the venue for a ‘First Look’.
We made Marc hide in the Olive Trees, and when Kris was ready we got her to come around from behind so they could reveal themselves to each other.
It was pretty damn cute.
Once the lovers had a moment alone, it was time to roam the beautiful property for some bridal party photos, pre-ceremony.
Man, what a good looking bunch!
While we were finishing up, Kris took another turn for the worse, so she was chauffeured back to the venue to some air con and water.
At 4:30pm as the ceremony was about to start, poor Kris lay inside, mustering every bit of energy she could to marry her man.
I took a little snap, because I knew even though she felt SHIT then, she would hopefully one day laugh about it…. Too soon Kris?
But… Miraculously she managed to pull through, and everyone was none the wiser as to what was going on, because GURRLLLLL looked FINE, gastro and all!
Finally, Mr + Mrs!
So much love during that ceremony. Such a tight knit family and group of friends… It was just so beautiful to watch (and to feel).
Now, the aim of doing the photos pre-ceremony? So they can party with everyone straight after the ceremony had finished… And that they did!
With Kris’ illness becoming a distant memory, you couldn’t take the smile off their faces. (Still to this day, I think it’s being questioned whether Kris had gastro, or an extreme case of nerves!)
Ceremony done. Now time for the party to begin!
Amazing food being handed out, and The Caravan Bar all set up to serve ice cold drinks to the good people.
Kris and Marc were officially introduced…
It was such a hot day, but as the evening came on it became such beautiful weather! The kids were all dancing on the d-floor, and everybody was having the best time.
Once the speeches were done, it was time for the first dance. We’d planned the festoon lighting JUST for this moment!
A little choreographed dance number NEVER disappoints!
With the superstars warmed up and in fine form, it was time for everyone to hit the d-floor!
Seriously, such a brilliant day/night! You outdid yourselves guys. No detail left unattended to. Everything was just…. Perfect.
So from me? THANK YOU. For being beautiful humans. For including me in such a loved up, awesome day. And for having the most kick-ass wedding/party ever!
Big Love, Leah
~ xoxo ~
