What does being a Mum mean to me? What does MY Mum mean to me?
To me, it means providing unconditional love, setting boundaries and always having a friend.
These 3 core values apply to both me being a Mum, and what I have appreciated most from my Mum over the years.
When I became a Mum 4 years ago, in an instant my confidence grew, I now had a little person I had to take care of and I *had* to speak up. Becoming a Mum has blessed me with friendships I never imagined I could have, and becoming a Mum I now appreciate more than ever what my Mumma did for me.
So, now more than ever I think it is *so* important to praise our Mothers, and the Mum’s we see around us.
Don’t parent-shame… That’s just shit!
Lift each other up, compliment each other…
And if you see a kid having a tantrum in the supermarket don’t stick you nose up or give a judgey look…
Tell that Mumma she’s doing a great job or ask her if she’s OK!
Something else that I have learnt is that we all parent differently. What works for me, may not work for you.
Equally, not all kids are the same!!
So again, don’t be judgey.
Here is a little peek at what my “Mummy + Me” mini sessions looked like this year
And as a surprise to some of the Mumma’s, here are some special words from their kids
~
Ava + Eli on their Mum, Jacqui:
” I love my Mummy so much, especially when she lets me help make cupcakes!” – Ava
Also, we have to add that Eli’s latest words are: “Mum Mum, cuddle cuddle, kiss, kiss”
Lucy + Jack on their Mum, Trudie:
“I love my Mummy because she gives good hugs and kisses and she’s really fun!” – Jack
“I love my Mummy because she always listens to my story’s and because Mum washes my clothes and looks after me when I’m sick” – Lucy
Milla + Jack on their Mum, Stacey:
“My Mummy is the best cos she gives the best cuddles and takes me to swimming and to the swings. I love my Mummy to the moon and back and once again, to the moon and back and once again, to the moon and back and once again, to the moon and back and once again, to the moon and back and once again” – Milla
Also, when Jack was asked if he loves Mummy, he answered “Yes” 🙂
~
So from me to you, Happy Mothers Day to all the Mumma’s out there doing their thing! You are *SO* amazing!
To the working Mumma’s,
To the at home Mumma’s,
To the studying Mumma’s,
To the Mumma’s who do both,
To our Mumma’s,
and
to those who have lost their Mumma’s…
I salute you.
Please treat yourself today.
Big Love, LLP

Leah- I just wanted to tell you personally that you truly capture the world and your little girl’s soul in your photography! What a gift! Blessings! Enjoy being a mum! Every single second. It goes by in a blink. You hear it but it truly truly does.
If you don’t mind me asking what body and lens do you use on most of her specific photos? I am wanting to add a new prime lens and am doing some comparisons when I came across your photos! Take care!
Julie
Hi Julie,
Thanks so much for your kind words. I’m so glad my photography translates like that. I use a few different lenses, but I would say my most used is my Canon 24-70mm. Good luck finding the right lens for your art!
