Bloody legends, these two!
Theresa (or Resa as she’s known to me) has been one of my oldest and dearest friends since we were about 16 years old. If my maths is correct, and let’s face it, my maths is shit, that’s about 17 years.
When she messaged me to ask me to take her wedding photos, I was thrilled and quietly shitting myself. For some reason when it’s a friend asking, the pressure is 10 x worse than with someone I’ve just met.
Clearly I said yes though, what an honour.
I was warned that my dear friend Gene hates photos. I don’t think there is a Groom in the history of history’s that don’t say the same thing, so I knew that I’d be able to win him over like I do most times.
When I rocked up to Theresa + Gene’s home in Geelong, the boys were underway getting ready, and Gene was unusually quiet.
I could feel some nerves, lots of them actually. Luckily the boys were there to make jokes, hang shit on him and generally make him feel a little better.
Gene wore probably the nicest suit I’ve ever seen. Navy with a black collar. Teamed with a black bow-tie, I think you’ll agree he was looking fine AF.
I did my thing with the boys, Gene relaxed a little once he was dressed and had a beer in his hand. So I left them to go visit the girls.
Resa had hired THE most beautiful B&B called Baruna Plains, just outside of Inverleigh. An old bluestone cottage, which complimented all the beautiful things happening on the day so perfectly.
Theresa had her Parents, her Bridesmaids (which included her twin Sister, Paula and older sister, Ruth – Both whom I utterly adore and have known forever too – plus 2 friends from her uni days).
Also, the guest of honour… their Son Hardey.
Seriously, the most beautiful bridal party EVERRRR!
This bluestone home though, and the property it sits on… Far out!
It is so so SOOOOO stunning.
And soz for the Bride’y spam. Theresa is one of the most naturally beautiful women I know. And to see her looking so glorious on her wedding day, it has to be shared.
The girls jumped in some fancy cars, organised by Gene. Who is the ultimate fancy car lover. Soz Gene, no idea what kind they are. But they looked good!
Resa + Gene had picked the Inverleigh Hotel for their ceremony and reception. A beautiful bluestone building that dates back to the 1850’s.
Theresa’s parents both walked her down the aisle, to a nervous Gene. But as soon as he held her hand, you could see the nerves float away.
I believe they had joked about it for a long time that they wanted their friend Chris marry them. He is not exactly officially a celebrant, but that didn’t matter. And he did a bloody marvellous job!
The ceremony was lovely, hilarious, beautiful… all the right things. All the right people.
Resa + Gene didn’t want to spend too much time on photos, so we had a few quick snaps with the bridal party before heading back to Barunah Plains.
Just us.
The light.
The space.
The people.
It was electric.
And such a nice way to celebrate this beautifully caring, kind couple.
It was tools down at that time for me.
But the party definitely did not end there.
At one point in the night Theresa + Gene perched on their guests shoulders (Pretty sure Paula was carrying you Resa? What a machine!), screaming/singing Daryl Braithwaite’s ‘Horses’.
One of the Groomsmen serenaded them with Seal’s ‘Kiss from a rose’.
Just that stuff that awesome wedding’s are made on, y’know?
What a bloody amazing night, hanging out with friends of over a decade.
Resy… Gene-o…
Beyond honoured to be able to hang out with you on this day.
Thanks for being massive legends. Great friends.
Love you!
Big Love, Leah
