Werribee Mansion Wedding
Well where do I start with these cool cats? I have known Megan since I was about 15 (back in the olden days), her big Bro is one of my best mates, and I’ve kind of watched her grow up! She has always been such a kind and wonderful human being, and it is not surprising to me in the least that she has found someone that shares her love for travel & life and shares her same values. I have stalked these guys (good old Facey) travelling the world for the last few years, and it’s so lovely to have them back in the land of Oz, settling down and making roots.
Megs sent me an email as soon as she was engaged, “Leah, I’m engaged! I haven’t chosen a venue or set a date but can you be our photographer?!”
– Umm… hell-to-the-yeah I will!! So we emailed back and forth over the next few weeks to work out a date that worked and the venue was booked, Werribee Mansion! This place is AMAZING. If you haven’t been, go! It is so extravagant with it’s architecture and history, and the grounds made for the perfect backdrop for a wedding….

Which is what I am going to share with you now!

First stop, the boys.
I was greeted at the doors by Luke… in his jocks. I walked in to meet the rest of his Groomsmen. Also in their jocks. Ha! Well these guys take the cake for the boys that were the least ready for my arrival in my history of shooting weddings. It made for a good photo though! Luke asked me what I wanted them to do… I replied “Pants. Pants are a good start!”
The boys were pretty chilled, and managed to get into their suits pretty quickly for me, and then we moved onto the Snooker Room (ooh la la!) to get a few pics before I left them to go and see the beautiful Bride!
The girls were just as chilled out when I got to their room (the beauty of Werribee Mansion is that literally errthing is at the same location) – Megan was getting her hair touched up and nervously waiting on my arrival to tell her what to do next!
I quickly took some photos of the girls STUN.NING flowers (would you seriously look at those bouquets?!) while the Bridesmaids sipped some champagne. The cute little Flowergirls turned up and were in total awe of their Uncle’s new bride. I’d look over at them and they would just be looking up at Megan, and you could almost see the heart-eyes emoji. So freakin’ cute.
Then… I FINALLY gave Megan the go ahead to get into her dress. THE dress, the one she’s been swooning over for sooooo long!
And then her Dad knocked on the door. My eyes are welling up just thinking about this moment. You can see (below) the absolute adoration in his eyes. This is especially heartwarming, because Neil is a joker. He’s always cracking jokes (usually taking the piss out of himself) – But in this moment, he is the adoring Dad who has never seen anything more beautiful in his life. The pride is swelling out of his eyes.

Over at the ceremony setup, Luke was nervously waiting. Chatting to family & friends as he waited for the nod that things were about to start.
And then…..
(can you see the little tear sitting just below Megan’s right eye?)
How can you look at these an not feel like you were there, this moment was just so overwhelming for both of them. Megan couldn’t contain her excitement, and look at Luke’s face when he first laid eyes on her… Far out. This is real love people!
The ceremony was beautiful, they both let their emotions run wild, and the love they have for each other is so obvious.
And then… there was an unexpected guest who walked into the middle of the aisle… And just stood there!
Quacks McGee obviously doesn’t know about wedding etiquette, and the little bugger stood there for most of the ceremony enjoying the attention he was getting!
The vows, the rings, the kiss & the signing – The smiles never left either one of them.
And you can see (above) just how stoked these guys were to officially call each other Hubster & Wife!
While Luke + Megan were congratulated by their guests, I stood back in admiration of the love they have surrounding them. I think there is something to be said for the old saying “What you give, you get back in return” – I know these guys are wonderful people, so it was really nice to watch them receive all of this love and nice stuff back in return.
Off for the Bridal Party hangs now, and the smiles flowed like the champagne!
We drove around the grounds in a golf buggy (#shityeah) – And would you just look at the variety of locations we had to choose from… So lucky!!

Now it was time to get introduced…. Please put your hands together for…. Mr + Mrs SKEWES!!!
(Totally fist-pump worthy!!)
Luke + Megs chose The Theatre within the grounds for their reception area. This stunning room has 6 metre high ceilings and the most beautiful (and massive) arched windows from floor to ceiling. They set the space up with long tables to encourage people to mingle (let’s be honest, their guests and family don’t need encouragement!) and a little birdy told me that the Bride was making waves on the D-floor later that night!
The cake was made by the couples dear friends Hannah & Millie, and the bonbonnieres were home grown succulents which were grown by a close family friend Heather, and planted in ceramic pots made by Luke’s Dad (Michael Skewes Pottery) – How. Bloody. Special.
The speeches were very special. I guess because I know Megan and her family, but I just loved them and they were just so nice! It sounds cruel, but I really love when the Groom allows himself to shed a tear – Luke’s speech acknowledging his Parent’s presence in his life, as well as his love for Megan was so touching. And I actual LOL’d listening to the love/hate relationship Megan and her Sister Jo have had growing up, as I distinctly remember some screaming matches in our teens… But no love lost, cos these Sisters have now travelled the world together and not only love each other, but really like each other too!
Megs & Luke, I can’t thank you enough for choosing me to capture your wedding. It is my absolute privilege and honour to have been given such a special job.
I know your future is bright, because so are you.
Best wishes for your future as Mr + Mrs… You two make a real good team!
Big Love, LLP
